"In the United States, Kawasaki's Disease is still relatively rare, but in other parts of the world it is all too familiar. The Syndrome can now be treated effectively, even rather easily-if it is treated quickly. But Kawasaki's is often mis-diagnosed and the results can be deadly.
This is an important story.
On the fifteenth of January, 1993, Michael Stein wrote a review of Arthur Hailey's Airport for a class assignment. In many ways, his effort was unremarkable: This story is about an airport that gets snowed in and a plane
try's to land [and] slides off in a ditch. They then try to pull it off the runaway but finally Mel gets in [and] runs [the] engines up and gets it out of the mud. Then it get[s] snowed in and they plow the runaway. Finally they get it all cleared[,] then they have an emergency landing and it goes very smooth. Everyone on the flight lived. It was a happy ending. This story does not have a happy ending. Michael's flight in this world was brief, but it illuminated many lives, none more than the lives of his immediate family. This is the story of Michael and his struggle against Kawasaki Disease, seen through the eyes of his maternal grandmother. Donna Rhodes Collins' light touch and skillful style present a moving and informative journal."
